Welcome to this month's E-zine!
Happy New Year! I hope you are off to a great start to 2012 and have made up your mind to approach the year with a fresh approach and attitude. There is a ton of possibility out there for all of us if we are open to it.
One of the characteristics that all great leaders have in common is courage. Because leading often involves going where no one has gone before; doing what you or others have not; getting outside your comfort zone; and ignoring the naysayers and cynics.
This month we salute the whistleblowers in the corporate world who have been courageous because they have seen wrongdoings and reported them. The price they have typically paid has been hostility, abuse, and even life threats against them. But they persisted because they knew that what they were blowing the whistle on was wrong.
There have been many in the last several years in North America alone: Cynthia Cooper of WorldCom; Colleen Rowley of the FBI; Sherron Watkins of Enron and our feature, Harry Markopolos who reported the infamous swindler Bernie Madoff.
Most of us know about Bernie Madoff. Many do not know about the man who brought him down.
